(VOVWORLD) - Ministries, sectors and localities are organizing activities to pay gratitude to war martyrs and national contributors on the occasion of the 75th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, July 27.

A meeting to honor 450 representative national contributors will be held on July 24 in Hanoi. A ceremony to present the National Merit Certificate to families of war martyrs will be held in Nghe An province on Saturday. An incense offering and candle lit ceremony to pay gratitude to heroic soldiers will take place in cemeteries nationwide on July 26. On July 27, a live TV program connecting Hanoi, HCM City, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Ha Giang and Can Tho will be organized.

Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan said: "This year we will celebrate the 75th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day. This is a very important event for the nation. The Ministry has coordinated with other ministries, sectors, and localities to organize commemorative activities."

On this occasion, localities nationwide have organized trips to visit and present gifts to national contributors and relatives of national contributors. They have also repaired, upgraded war martyrs’ cemeteries, monuments, temples, steles and tombs.

Ho Thi Chau Loan, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An province, said: "We always consider care for war martyrs, invalids and national revolutionary contributors a key task. We have mobilized resources to care for and improve the material and spiritual life of all national contributors in the province."

The State has adopted special policies to honor and care for national contributors. It is part of Vietnam’s tradition “Drinking water, remembering its source”.
