The Muong Nhe district Party Committee has improved the quality of local Party meetings, and discussions through experience sharing and skills training for local Party cell secretaries.

Nguyen Quang Hung, Secretary of Muong Nhe Party Committee, said, “During the past term, we admitted nearly 700 new Party members, 500 of whom are ethnic people. We have made sure all 38 hamlets have Party members and have established 75 grassroots Party cells. We are providing training and awareness improvement for leading villagers. 26 village patriarchs have been admitted to the Party. 12 of them have assumed the dual role of village chief and Party cell secretary.”

“Outstanding individuals and role models are recognized each year. They are the nucleus in spreading the Party and State's directions, policies, and laws, especially in poverty reduction. They are also the nucleus in resolving community conflicts,” Hung added.

Party meetings at the grassroots level usually focus on urgent local issues and are attended and evaluated by district and commune leaders. This allows Party leaders at all levels to assess the quality of Party activities at the grassroots level, criticism and self-criticism, and the fighting spirit of Party members, help people stabilize their lives, and inspire trust in the Party leadership.

Lo Van Vanh, an ethnic Thai man in Phieng Vai commune, said, “Our living conditions have improved since 1992, when the roads to Muong Nhe district were upgraded. We now read newspapers, listen to the radio, watch television, and use the Internet. Our children attend school.”

Vanh attributed the results to “The Party and State having launched program 134 to provide clean water, land for resettlement and agricultural production for poor, ethnic families, program 135 to develop extremely disadvantaged communes in mountainous and remote areas, and programs to support people with breeding stock, fruit trees, and plant varieties. Phieng Vai commune has several Party members doing business.”

The Muong Nhe district Youth Union considers recruitment of new members a key task of Party building. Since last year, the Union has nominated 254 people, of whom 211 have been admitted to the Party.

Ha Nhi ethnic Ly Tu Xe, Secretary of Party cell and chief of Nam Pac hamlet, told VOV: “I was elected hamlet chief in 2015. Two years later, I was admitted to the Party, and became secretary of the hamlet Party cell in 2019. Nam Pac has 37 households with 139 people, including 16 Party members. The local Party committee has helped villagers develop farming and breeding to escape poverty. Everyone lives in harmony.”
