The Can Gio - Ho Chi Minh City area holds a strategic location for developing marine economy, tourism, and ecological urban zones. However, its transport infrastructure remains limited, relying mainly on ferries and roundabouts.
The construction of a sea-crossing road is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two areas, creating a new transport corridor that links key functional zones within the city. The project will help unlock socio-economic potential, promote trade and tourism, and foster the growth of sustainable coastal urban areas.
Vingroup is also conducting research on a 48.5-kilometer high-speed urban railway linking downtown Ho Chi Minh City with Can Gio. Vingroup is expediting procedures with the goal of starting construction this year and completing it by 2028.
Designed to operate at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, the new line will cut travel time from the city center to the coast to just about 12 minutes, serving 30,000 to 40,000 passengers per hour.
