The 4-day program will be attended by Coast Guard delegations from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

At a press conference in Hanoi on Friday, Major-General Tran Van Xuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, said the program will help enhance the international prestige and position of the Vietnam Coast Guard and will enhance the Coast Guard’s diplomacy ability and experience to protect Vietnam’s sovereignty over sea and islands.

“This is the key task of 2022 for spreading the theme ‘For a safe and secure sea’. The exchange program aims to create consensus in coordinating tasks between the Vietnam Coast Guard and maritime law enforcement forces in other countries,” said Xuan.

The program’s main activities are a meeting with the Vietnamese Minister of National Defense, bilateral exchanges between the Vietnam Coast Guard and participating delegations, the tour of Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022, and cultural and tourism sites in Hanoi. A discussion with 500 delegates, including 70 foreign delegates, will take place in Hanoi.
