The two-day conference, held by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in collaboration with partner agencies, brought together 50 speakers and 500 delegates.

High on the agenda were developments in the East Sea, strategic competition among major powers, emerging trends in marine technology, ASEAN's leadership role, and the importance of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in maintaining stability at sea.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong said: "Vietnam attaches great importance to maintaining regional peace and stability, and upholds the central role of international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Vietnam is committed to peacefully resolving disputes, building trust and responsibly managing differences. Vietnam is also ready to cooperate with all partners to ensure that our common seas remain seas of peace, stability and prosperity."

Over the past 16 years, the International Conference on the East Sea has played an important role in fostering connections, promoting mutual understanding, building trust, consolidating peace, stability, and prosperity, not only in the East Sea, but also across the regional and global maritime spaces.
