(VOVWORLD) - A turbulent 2021 already ended and a 2022 filled with hope and excitement has begun. But for Vietnam and other countries that used the Lunar Calendar, there are certain events that mark the end of the previous year, the first being Kitchen Gods’ Day on Lunar December 23.

Foreigners who have lived in Vietnam for sometime might know a little about Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year holiday, but what about the Kitchen Gods’ Day, the day when we bid farewell to the kitchen genies, who are believed to have observed all the happenings in the family during the year? Alvir Anthony Subrado and Bhroi Gocela have lived in Vietnam for the past 7 years and these two friends from the Philippines are eager to talk about this unusual farewell ritual.
