Head of the General Statistics Office (GSO) Nguyen Thi Huong told a press conference in Hanoi on Thursday that the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector with a growth rate of 3.36% contributed more than 5.1% to the value added growth rate of the whole economy.

Huong said that this year Vietnam's macro-economy continued to be stable, inflation was under control, major balances were guaranteed. The improved business and investment environment has made a positive contribution to socio-economic recovery and development, creating public trust and support. Some sectors posted higher growth than the year before the COVID-19 pandemic, she added.

A week earlier, HSBC assessed 2022 as a year of recovery and boom, making Vietnam more likely to continue to be one of the outstanding growth countries in Asia. HSBC then forecast Vietnam's GDP growth at 8.1%.
