Vietnamese Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung attended the event for “Women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”
Minister Dung reiterated Vietnam’s commitments to prioritizing gender equality, saying the country wishes to receive support from the UN and other members to overcome current difficulties.
By September 2020, the ratio of female National Assembly deputies was 27.3%, higher than the global average. Violence against women and children has reduced. 100% of human trafficking victims returning home have received social support for reintegration in the community.
