Speaking at a meeting to introduce the draft, Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Chi Dung, head of the Vietnam Permanent Mission to the UN, the WTO and other international organizations in Geneva, said that climate change is one of the international community’s greatest concern which is threatening countries worldwide. He called for acceleration in international cooperation in terms of financial support, technological transfer, and capacity building for developing countries to mitigate climate change, promote human rights, including those of women and girls.
The event, which runs through July 6, draws representatives from 47 member countries and more than 100 observer countries as well as international and non-governmental organizations.
Along with a dialogue with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, participants discussed a wide range of issues including women’s rights, rights to health and education services, human trafficking, and migration.
