Oanh earned Vietnam its 37th and 38th golds in 1,500m and 3,000m obstacle run.

Oanh had registered to compete in 4 individual events: 1,500m, 3,000m, 5,000m and 10,000m women obstacle race. On Monday, the first day of track and field competition, Oanh easily seized a gold medal in the 5,000m race. At that time, she was supposed to run a 3,000m on Tuesday, and 1,500 on Thursday, which would give her one day to rest and recover.

However, on Monday afternoon, the organizers announced the change of schedule. Oanh had to do the 1,500m at 5:30PM on Tuesday and the 3,000m 20 minutes after that. She accepted the risk and moved on.

With extraordinary efforts and reasonable tactics, Nguyen Thi Oanh excellently won 2 more gold medals, making SEA Games history.

After finishing the 3,000m obstacle race, Nguyen Thi Oanh told VOV, Right now, I have a lot of mixed emotions and I'm really tired. I am very grateful to the encouragement of the audience and the Vietnamese delegation members, so that I can finish the task with 2 quite difficult races in a very short time. I feel so happy.”

Tuesday's wins give Nguyen Thi Oanh a total of 11 golds of her career.
