The scorching summer heat in Hanoi over the last week couldn’t stop Quang and his colleagues from enthusiastically painting walls at crowded crossroads in Tay Ho district, Hanoi.

“I used to collect food and clothes for poor children in remote areas. When I decided to do something else for the community in the long run, the idea of painting murals popped up in my mind. After my project is done in the 12 districts in Hanoi, I plan to travel across Vietnam to paint murals,” according to Quang.

His murals take inspiration from Ministry of Health’s message to fight the virus and the frontline health workers who have been working tirelessly to keep us going as a society.

Painter Chu Nha of Quang’s COVID-19 mural project told VOV, “I’m really into this community project initiated by Quang because it delivers a great message and raises people awareness of the COVID-19 fight. I always want to contribute to it, even just a little. We keep painting everyday despite the sweltering heat and thunderstorms.”

The mural project has received positive feedbacks from Hanoians. Doan Dieu Linh of Hoan Kiem district said, “These COVID-19-inspired murals add a touch of beauty to the cityscape. They are also a part of the communications campaign. I believe that such paintings have more striking effects than mere words.”

The artists said they hope each individual is more aware of his responsibility for stamping out the virus thanks to their mural paintings.
