Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said: “Vietnam has always considered the US one of the most important partners in our foreign policy. We always do our best to expand and deepen the comprehensive cooperative relationship with the US, which effectively and practically contributes to the development of the two countries, as well as regional and global peace and development."

US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink said US-Vietnam cooperation is impressive in its breadth and depth in all fields, particularly trade relations, which have rapidly developed and brought many economic achievements for both countries. The US is Vietnam's largest export market, while Vietnam is one of the US’s fastest growing export markets. Mr. Kritenbrink said that what the two countries have achieved is proof that Vietnam and the US can replace hatred, bitterness, and grudge with trust, respect, and cooperation. The two countries have proven that former enemies can become friends and reliable partners. These achievements are important to the US-Vietnam relations and to the world, he added.

Over the past 25 years, the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership has grown broadly and substantially. The two countries have cooperated closely in regional and global forums, where Vietnam has assumed the role of ASEAN Chair in 2020 and Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term. Vietnam and the US have maintained cooperation with the international community in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic and other emerging challenges.
