(VNA) – 300 delegates attended an international conference on the identities and values of the worshiping of Mother of Goddess in Vietnam and Asia in Nam Dinh province on Sunday. 60 presentations introduced the history, development, and the significance of the belief in Asia, including Vietnam. The worshiping of Mother of Goddess reflects the view of life of farming communities, traditions, and morality. Chầu Văn trance singing and dancing is a ritual in the worshiping of Mother of Goddess, which features cultural values of generations and maintained the vitality of the Mother of Goddesses.

The conference is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 750th anniversary of Thien Truong, the old capital of the Tran dynasty between the 13th and the 15th century in the northern city of Nam Dinh. Nam Dinh province is preparing a dossier of Chau Van ritual to be listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage and submitted to UNESCO for the recognition of an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
