The Hung Kings Festival opens on April 12, 2019, in Phu Tho, Vietnam. |
Delegations from 7 communes and towns, adjacent to Hung Kings relic site, took part in a palanquin procession with offerings to Hung Kings’ temple on Friday in Phu Tho province. The ceremony has been organized for thousands of years by the Vietnamese to pay tribute to their ancestors and reflects the tradition of remembering the source of the water one drinks.
The same day, a contest of making the traditional “banh chung” or square glutinous rice cakes and “banh day” or glutinous rice cakes was held by organizers of the Hung Kings’ festival.
