Activities mark 66th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day

(VOVworld) – An event took place in Hanoi on Wednesday to mark the 66th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). The event honored and expressed gratitude to Vietnam’s heroic mothers who suffered losses and sacrificed for national independence. The Vietnam Martyrs’ Families Support Association presented the results of DNA tests on the remains of martyrs to their families.

(VOVworld) – An event took place in Hanoi on Wednesday to mark the 66th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). The event honored and expressed gratitude to Vietnam’s heroic mothers who suffered losses and sacrificed for national independence. The Vietnam Martyrs’ Families Support Association presented the results of DNA tests on the remains of martyrs to their families. The association also presented 11 charity houses, 60 savings books, and 100 smaller gifts to martyrs’ families and heroic Vietnamese mothers.

Provinces nationwide organized activities to pay tribute to soldiers. In Ha Tinh, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union paid visits to martyrs’ families, and heroic Vietnamese mothers and cleared martyrs’ monuments and cemeteries. Thái Phúc Sơn is Deputy Secretary of the Ha Tinh provincial Youth Union: “July has been designated as a special month. Emulation movements are taking place in the youth union at all levels, focusing on educating the younger generation about Vietnam’s revolutionary tradition burning incense to commemorate martyrs, and visiting and presenting gifts to beneficiaries. We also provided free examinations and medicines to 1,000 beneficiaries. Through those activities, every youth member became aware of their responsibilities in national development.”

Dak Lak province drew from its budget nearly 260,000 USD to present gifts to more than 17,000 beneficiaries and units taking care of wounded and sick soldiers inside and outside the province. In Quang Tri province, the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Welfare raised 4,700 USD to support heroic mothers and beneficiaries.
