Organizations and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City committed to 4.3 million USD for the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund at a ceremony held by the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front on Wednesday. The donors said the contribution shows their responsibility in the fight against the pandemic.

Quang Nam province received 890,000 USD and 30,000 medical masks from organizations and businesses on Wednesday for the Fund.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Gia Lai province received 30,500 USD from donors.

Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Truong Thi Ngoc Anh said the Fund will be used to purchase vaccines for people nationwide, to support doctors and medical staff, and buy medical equipment for COVID-19 prevention and treatment.

“We’re working with the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to manage and use the donations from businesses and individuals for the right purposes,” Anh said.

Until noon Wednesday, over 180 million USD was donated to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund.
