Indonesia has already lost World Cup qualifiers against Malaysia, Thailand and the UAE and currently ranks at the bottom of the group.

“The match won’t be easy. Vietnam is strong and has good success so far. But we know what to do against such a strong rival,” said Lilipaly.

We have encountered Vietnam many times. It will be tough but we want to end our losing streak,” Stefano told reporters.

“We need a break and some focused training to be ready for Vietnam. To me, this is literally a home match because we’re playing in Bali.”

We need a victory. This will be a great match against a top rival. We want to score goals but need to be cautious about counter-attacks. We have the home advantage, so we must beat Vietnam.”

Coach Simon McMemeny, however, expressed caution:

“Don’t forget that Vietnam is in Pot 2 at World Cup 2022 qualifiers. They have made great progress in the last two years, so I’m not 100% sure about a win.”
