(VOVWORLD) - Nong Thi Lanh of the Nung ethnic group has made great contributions to many movements in the Central Highland province of Gia Lai, helping to mobilize various resources to support people in need. She is now the Vice  Chairwoman of the Ograng village Women’s Union.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused financial hardship for many households in Ograng village. Villager. Pham Thi Lam said that her family faced numerous difficulties when family members were in pandemic quarantine. They received support from Nong Thi Lanh and the Ograng village Women’s Union.

“Our income was affected as most of my family members were in quarantine. Thanks to Lanh’s help, we managed to overcome these difficulties,” said Lam.

Lanh and the local Women’s Union also extended their support to neighboring areas. Ta Thi Hong Hanh’s family in Sat Tau village lived in poverty as her husband was seriously ill. Lanh raised nearly 175 USD to support Hanh’s family.

“Ms. Lanh and the local Women’s Union gave me financial support and encouragement when my family was in difficulty. Apart from money, they also donated food, clothes and other necessities,” said Hanh.

Riding her old motorbike, Lanh brought relief to many disadvantaged children and elderly people. Although Lanh herself suffers from a serious medical condition, she is still willing to help others.

“I hope that more people will join my effort to do charity work. I hope the pandemic will soon be over so that people can get back to their normal life,” said Lanh.

Last year Lanh worked with sectors and organizations in her locality to present hundreds of gifts, including necessities and books, to local orphans and other disadvantaged children.

“We highly appreciate Lanh’s great contribution to social work and community activities. She serves as a great example of how to be a responsible citizen, especially in charity movements and supporting local authorities in the pandemic fighting effort,” said Pham Thi Kim Tuyen, Vice Chairwoman of Ia Pech commune’s People’s Committee.
