In his opening address, Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong recalled the Xuong Giang victory 600 years ago against the Ming invaders. The Lam Son troops led by Le Loi defeated the invaders at Xuong Giang, regaining independence for Dai Viet after two decades of rule by the Ming Dynasty.
To commemorate this enormous contribution, a temple was built near the Xuong Giang Citadel and a festival is now held annually on the 6th day of the first lunar month.
