World leaders and the Japanese people bid farewell to late PM Abe Shinzo

(VOVWORLD) -The Japanese government has received more than 1,700 condolence messages from 259 countries and international organizations following the assassination of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, the Foreign Ministry said.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and French President Emmanuel Macron offered their condolences in phone calls to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Tuesday. 

Macron sent his sincere condolences to the family of Abe, who made a great contribution to the development of Japan-France relations.

Albanese said Australia will steadfastly work with Japan to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region in accordance with the will of Mr Abe.
