World Bank notes positive signs for Vietnam’s economy in 2022

(VOVWORLD) - The World Bank has noted positive signs for Vietnam’s economy this year in its latest Vietnam macro-economic update.

They include growing industrial production index and a continued trade surplus. Year-on-year sales of retail goods and consumer services had a positive growth for the first time since the pandemic broke out.

The World Bank said the surge of Vietnam’s major economic indicators before the Lunar New Year holiday was driven by a high vaccine coverage (over 73% of its population).

A socio-economic recovery program, which was rolled out in January, has allowed the extension of tax and land rent payment, a 2% reduction of value added tax (VAT), and addition of public investment capital.
