Nearly one-fifth of Vietnam’s land area, 5.6 million hectares, remain contaminated with bombs, mines, and other explosive ordinance, Viet said.

The workshop included sessions on sharing the experience of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand; the importance of information management; the tripartite cooperation model of the UN Development Program (UNDP), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and Vietnam; overcoming the consequences of landmines in the fulfillment of SDGs; technological advances; backlog risk management; and regional cooperation mechanisms.
