At the World Health Assembly in Geneva, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called this an historic milestone. He applauded efforts by member states and pledged to do everything possible to make the organization better.

He urged countries to carry out all reforms needed to prepare for the next pandemic, and honor their commitments to increase WHO funding.
