Thanh won the snatch competition Tuesday evening by lifting 91 kilograms on first try, 96 kilograms on the second, and 100 kilograms on the third to ultimately claim gold.

Silver medalist Chontavin Thipwara of Thailand peaked at 91 kilograms.

In the clean and jerk competition, Thanh lifted 114 kilograms, then 117 kilograms, outperforming second placed Sarah of Indonesia, who lifted 112 kilograms.

Thanh won the third gold medal when she registered a total weight of 217 kilograms in two competitions, 16 kilograms more than Sarah.

The 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championships is taking place in Bahrain until Sunday. Previously, athletes Quang Thi Tam, Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan, Lai Gia Thanh and Khong My Phuong won gold medals for Vietnam.
