Vietnam's law on religion consistent with international conventions

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's law on religion is consistent with international conventions that Vietnam has signed, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vu Chien Thang said at a reception for Under-Secretary for the Holy See’s Relations with States Monsignor Miroslaw Stanislaw Wachowski on Thursday.

Mr. Thang added that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for religious organizations to operate in accordance with the Constitution and laws. In Vietnam everyone has the right to freely practice their belief and religious activities either in their own homes or at places of worship, he noted. 

The Vietnamese Government acknowledges and appreciates the involvement of religious organizations in curbing the COVID-19, Deputy Minister Thang said, expressing his hope that the Holy See will continue directing the Catholic Church in Vietnam to engage religious followers in emulation movements and contribute to closer Vietnam-Vatican relations.

The Holy See's official lauded talks by the two sides to promote their relationship and said he is looking forward to the 9th round of talks achieving basic contents of operational regulations for the resident envoy of the Holy See in Vietnam.
