Participants agreed on the need for improved legislation, autonomy in medical equipment purchases, and cooperation among hospitals.

Associate Professor Doctor Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the Administration of Medical Examination and Treatment, said: “The Ministry of Health aims to improve domestic healthcare services, hospital management, and financial mechanism. We are focused on improving treatment technology and hope to serve more people when they need medical care.”

The Ministry of Health reports that Vietnam’s hospitals have mastered state-of-the-art treatment technologies but are charging patients lower rates. In the first half of this year, 90,000 foreigners received examinations and 10,000 foreigners received inpatient care at Vietnam’s hospitals.
