(VOVworld) – Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Nguyen Thanh Bien chaired a meeting this week to review Vietnam’s exports in the first quarter and seek measures for further growth in the remaining months of this year. According to Ministry reports, Vietnam has earned 24.5 billion USD in export revenue so far this year, up 23.6% against the first quarter last year. Most worthy of note is that exports earnings of the foreign investment sector topped 15.5 billion USD, up 43%. By the end of the quarter, 8 product groups fetched export turnovers of more than 1 billion USD including seafood, coffee, crude oil, garment and textile and footwear. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Bien elaborates 'Despite the adverse impacts of regional and global markets, Vietnam’s export growth remains relatively high. These achievements are attributable to joint efforts by the entire business community, the Government’s strong direction, and the active involvement of ministries and agencies'.

To fulfill export targets set for this year, Bien said associations, enterprises, and the Government should find more ways to help exporters promote trade, expand markets, and restructure their business operations.
