Vietnam’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 44

(VOVWORLD) - A 38-year-old worker at an industrial park in the northern province of Bac Giang on Monday became Vietnam's 44th coronavirus death.

After being tested positive for coronavirus, the patient received treatment at the Health Centre of Yen Dung district from May 17.

After five days, her health condition worsened with signs of respiratory failure. She was sent to the Bac Giang General Hospital on Saturday, where she was diagnosed with pneumonia and respiratory failure.

She died in early morning of Monday due to pneumonia caused by COVID-19, septic shock and advanced respiratory failure complications, the Ministry of Health said.

This is the ninth death in the current wave of COVID-19 in Vietnam.

Bac Giang currently leads in community COVID-19 counts of the new wave, at 980 cases.
