Vietnamese to get COVID-19 vaccine booster shots from December

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Health said on Wednesday that it will administer booster shots from this month on the basis of vaccine supply progress.

Vietnam has so far administered more than 120 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for people over 18 years old. More than 94% of them got at least one dose and nearly 68% got two doses. Some provinces and cities have injected two doses for about 80-90% of people over 18 years old.

An additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine will be given to people aged 18 years or older, priority given to people aged 50 years or older who have already got two doses, people with moderate and severe immunodeficiency, people who need long-term care in medical facilities, and those who directly test, care for and treat COVID-19 patients.

Vietnam in the past 24 hours recorded 14,508 new COVID-19 cases, of which 2 were imported and 14,506 were recorded domestically in 60 provinces and cities. Vietnam’s caseload is 1,252,590, ranking 35 out of 223 countries and territories. Vietnam ranks 149 out of 223 countries and territories by the ratio of infections per 1 million people.

On Wednesday, an additional 2,704 patients recovered. The total number of recoveries is 992,052. In the past 24 hours, Vietnam recorded 196 deaths from COVID-19.
