Vietnamese director wins prize at Cannes Film Festival 2022

(VOVWORLD) - Young Vietnamese director Mai Vu won the “Lights on Women Award” at Cannes Film Festival 2022, an award that honors the work of female filmmakers.

The award’s prize of 30,000 EUR is given to the most promising female director in the Short Films and La Cinef categories.

Mai Vu’s film was one of 16 works selected from more than 1,500 entries. “Giac Mo Goi Cuon” (“Spring Roll Dream”), a short animated film which competed in the La Cinef category, took two years to complete.

Mai Vu was born in Ho Chi Minh City and has been working in animation since 2011.
