Vietnamese athletes head off for SEA Games 31

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese athletes who will compete at the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) promised to try their best to bag medals at a send-off ceremony held in Hanoi on Thursday.

A delegation of 1,300 members will be deployed to the games, which will be hosted by Vietnam next month. They will compete in 40 sports and aim to win 140 gold medals. At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh acknowledged the hard work of all competitors, coaches, and experts.

“This is a golden opportunity for Vietnam, the host, to promote its culture and fine values to more international friends and enhance solidarity among countries. Each member of our delegation is a cultural ambassador. We will always embrace our unity, morale, disciplines, courage, fair-play, and honesty to achieve our goals, thus uplifting the status of Vietnam’s sports internationally. Respecting the wide spectrum of cultures of all participants should be kept in your mind,” said Mr. Minh. 

SEA Games 31 will take place in Hanoi and 11 neighboring localities from May 12 to May 23.
