Runner Nguyen Thi Oanh won gold in the women’s 1,000m, 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase, in which she broke her own record set in the previous SEA Games.

Vietnam's track and field athlete Lo Thi Hoang won gold and broke the SEA Games record in the women's javelin, with a throw of 56.37m.  

Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang set a new SEA Games record in the men's 400m freestyle and won a gold medal in the 1,500 m freestyle.
