(VOVWORLD) - Deputies to the ongoing session of the National Assembly on Thursday discussed the ratification of the Supplementary Treaty to the 1985 Treaty on the Delimitation of National Boundaries and the Supplementary Treaty 2005 between Vietnam and Cambodia, and the protocol on land border demarcation and marker planting between the two countries.

Presenting the report on proposing the National Assembly ratify the two documents, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh said: The signing of the 2019 Supplementary Treaty and the Protocol on land border demarcation and marker planting will mark the two countries’ efforts in addressing border issues. They will be the legal foundation to prevent hostile forces from abusing border issues between the two countries as a political card to distort and provoke against the States and relations of the two countries. It will be the model for peaceful settlement of border issues on the basis of respecting fundamental principles in international relations.”

Once ratified, the two legal documents will be a firm foundation to strengthen border management and remaining border issues between Vietnam and Cambodia.
