Vietnam wins big prizes at Hanoi International Piano competition

(VOVworld) - Nguyen Lan Anh, Ngo Phuong Vi and Nguyen Dang Quang won the top prizes in Group A aged 10-13 and Group B aged 14-17 at the 3rd Hanoi International Piano Competition which closed in Hanoi on Friday.

(VOVworld) - Nguyen Lan Anh, Ngo Phuong Vi and Nguyen Dang Quang won the top prizes in Group A aged 10-13 and Group B aged 14-17 at the 3rd Hanoi International Piano Competition which closed in Hanoi on Friday. In Group A, Nguyen Lan Anh from Vietnam and Alyssa Kok from Singapore won first prizes while two second prizes, two third prizes and six consolation prizes all went to Vietnamese contestants. In Group B, two first prizes went to Vietnamese pianists Ngo Phuong Vi and Nguyen Dang Quang while Kostenko Mariya from Ukraine won second prize. Ngo Phuong Vi told VOV: "This is the 3rd time I participated in this competition. I’ve learned a lot of valuable experiences from all the competitions. Winning a prize at this prestigious competition was my honour as I was qualified to play with the orchestra."

Ngo Phuong Vi wins the first prize in Group B


The competition, presided over by People's artist Dang Thai Son, brought together 55 contestants from nine countries and territories including Vietnam, China, Taiwan (China), Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Ukraine, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. The event was first held in 2010 with the aim of discovering and nurturing young classical music talents.
