Vietnam vows to build a regular, modern People’s Army

(VOVWORLD) - Celebrating 76 years of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22), Vietnamese media have been posting articles emphasizing Vietnam’s target of building a regular and modern People’s Army. 

People’s Army newspaper said that amid rapid global changes and new requirements of national defence, it is essential for Vietnam to build a regular, elite and modern army until 2030.

VOV online on Tuesday posted an article by Colonel Nguyen Van Sau, Vice President of the Military History Institute of Vietnam, in which he said modernizing the army is indispensable in order to enhance military strength and protect the country.

Vietnam plans to modernize the People’s Army to prevent wars and stop invasions using high-tech weapons. The article said the People’s Army needs to step up international integration and cooperation to raise its position internationally.
