The Vietnamese negotiating team was led by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, while the US side was represented by Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

During the three days of negotiations, much progress was made in services, digital trade, agriculture, technical barriers to trade (TBT), and food safety standards (SPS) and the gap was narrowed in the remaining issues.

The United States applauded the goodwill, efforts and creative approach of the Vietnamese negotiating team, especially the one-on-one talks between Minister Dien and Representative Greer held right before the official technical negotiation session. The United States had initial responses to Vietnam's requests and said that it could consider handling them based on the overall negotiation results.

The two sides agreed to hold online meetings to continue discussing outstanding issues as well as prepare for the online ministerial-level talks between Chief Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Minister Nguyen Hong Dien scheduled for November.
