At the celebration, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong summarized the achievements of 45 years of cooperation, saying that since May 1978, when UNDP opened an office in Hanoi, the UN Development Program has always stood shoulder to shoulder with Vietnam throughout its development journey from a poor country devastated by war to becoming a middle-income country at the forefront of poverty reduction and growth efforts.

The methods of cooperation between UNDP and Vietnam during the past 45 years have changed a lot, more in line with the development level of Vietnam, he said.

Contributing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, leaving no one behind, the Government of Vietnam always considers UNDP one of the most important partners, long-term and truly "close friends", working for the common interests of the Vietnamese people, for peace and prosperity in the region and in the world.

UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam Ramla Khalidi attributed three factors to the success of the UNDP-Vietnam partnership: trust, shared values and openness.
