Vietnam, UK seek stronger educational cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and Minister of State at the UK Department for Education Nick Gibb have discussed ways to bosst bilateral cooperation in education.

At a meeting in Britain, the two sides looked into cooperation in tertiary education, and boosting joint training between universities. During his visit to the UK, Nha also met with Chief Executive of the British Council Ciaran Devane.

Earlier, Minister Nha delivered a speech at the World Education Forum, where he highlighted Vietnam’s significant achievements in school network expansion and the universalization of primary and secondary education. The Vietnamese Government has allocated 20 percent of State budget spending or 5.8 percent of national gross domestic product (GDP) each year on education, Mr. Nha said, adding that such investments have paid off as Vietnam has reaped achievements in education.
