Vietnam, UAE to start talks on comprehensive economic partnership

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates should increase exchanges of delegations to seek opportunities to strengthen trade and investment ties, said Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien during his meeting on Thursday with the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

Minister Dien highlighted the potentials and opportunities expected from signing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. He said Vietnam is becoming a manufacturing hub in the region and the world while the UAE is a transit hub and a financial and logistics center.

The Minister added the cooperation between the two countries will create motivation for the growth of trade and investment of their respective countries in the coming time.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said the UAE wishes to bolster economic ties with Vietnam and considers Vietnam an important, potential economic partner. He added leaders of the UAE have stressed the need to start talks on the CEPA as soon as Vietnam finalizes internal procedures.

On the occasion, the two leaders signed a Ministerial-level Declaration on starting negotiation of the CEPA.
