Vietnam sent 143,000 workers abroad last year, marking the 3rd consecutive year the number of its guest workers has exceeded 100,000. Mr Diep said as an estimated 800,000 people are added to the working-age population each year, the number of Vietnamese workers sent board last year was relatively high.
“We should limit the number of workers sent overseas each year at 150,000 or 25% of the average additional workers. A possible solution is to put a cap on the number of labor export companies,” said Deputy Minister Diep.
