Fresh fruit, including bananas, dragon fruit, mangoes, pomelos, and jackfruits, which are the bread-earners of southern provinces, are entering the main harvest season.

Exporters predict that the new fruit crop and agricultural product season will benefit from reduced transportation costs, and the export market has grown as more markets have opened to Vietnamese fruit products.

In 2022, durian, dragon fruit, and banana have been exported to the Chinese market, thanks to protocols signed between the two countries.

Vietnamese pomelos and lemons have also been allowed to be imported into New Zealand, and fresh longan to Japan.

According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, in the last months of the year, Vietnam's vegetable and fruit exports have posted an average monthly turnover of 250-260 million USD. 2023 is expected to be a booming year for the fruit and vegetable industry, with an estimated export of 4 billion USD.
