Vietnam, Russia pledge further parliamentary ties

The two leaders discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation and celebrations of the Russia Year in Vietnam. Ms Ngan asked the two legislatures to boost cooperation and help their enterprises to increase exports of agricultural and fishery products among others. Ms Ngan praised bilateral ties in national defense, military technology, education, culture, and tourism as well as cooperation between localities.

Ms Valentina Matvienko said the  Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia wants to increase delegation exchanges and bilateral coordination at international parliamentary forums.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the talks, Ngan said the two sides will work out several activities in 2020, strengthen cooperation and consultation mechanisms, and work closely at international forums to promote peace, friendship and development in the region and the world. Ngan said the two countries will accelerate the signing of an agreement  on travel of the two countries’ citizens as soon as possible.

Ms Matvienko said strengthening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership is one of priorities in Russia’s external policy. She said in the future the two countries will celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. The two legislatures support the two governments’ signing of an agreement on travel of their citizens and an inter-government treaty on sending Vietnamese workers to Russia.
