Vietnam, RoK eye two-way trade of 100 billion USD by 2023

(VOVWORLD) - There is plenty of room for cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) and the Vietnamese National Assembly supports upgrading bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, said Vietnam’s top legislator Vuong Dinh Hue.

National Assembly Chairman Hue told Monday’s Vietnam-RoK Business Forum co-chaired with his Korean counterpart Park Byeoung-seug in Seoul that the two countries aim to raise bilateral trade to 100 billion USD by 2023 and 150 billion USD by 2030.

Mr. Hue said that during his ongoing official visit to the RoK, representatives of the two Governments will sign a social insurance agreement to safeguard the interests of Vietnamese workers in the RoK and Korean workers in Vietnam. This is the first such agreement Vietnam has signed with any country.

At the forum, Bac Ninh province presented an investment certificate of a 1.6 billion USD semi-conductor factory by Amkor group. Deawoo group also signed a number of agreements on investment projects in Vietnam worth a total of 2 billion USD.
