(VOVworld)-Vietnam has rejected Chinese Hainan province’s introduction of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos into its coastal border regulation’s scope of application and its recently published map of Sansha. Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Tuesday responded to the recent Chinese fishing boats’ intervention and breaking of cables by Vietnamese vessel Binh Minh 02 during its seismic survey within Vietnam’s special economic zone and continental shelf despite earlier warning signal. The incident took place far inside Vietnamese special economic zone and continental shelf some 43 nautical miles off Vietnamese Cồn Cỏ Island on November 30.  Spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi told the press on Tuesday that the activities seriously violated Vietnam’s national sovereignty in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and infringed upon both countries’ agreement on guiding principles on the settlement of sea related issues signed last October. These went against the Declaration of Conduct of parties in the East Sea and its 10th anniversary high-level declaration while complicating the situation. Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s representative met Chinese Embassy’s representative in Hanoi on Monday and granted a diplomatic note resolutely opposing the acts and asked China to respect Vietnam’s national sovereignty, immediately end the wrongful acts and not repeating similar moves.
