Vietnam respects, ensures religious freedom and beliefs

(VOVworld) – Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man received Vice-Secretary General of Religions for Peace International Kyoichi Sugino in Hanoi on Monday. Man said that Vietnam has recognized 40 organizations representing 14 religions and that Vietnam consistently respects and ensures people’s right to religious and non-religious freedom. He added that religions have contributed significantly to Vietnam’s development and defense, patriotic movements, and social and humanitarian activities.

Sugino said he hopes the Vietnam Fatherland Front will cooperate with Religions for Peace International to foster links between religions in Vietnam and others in Southeast Asia.
