Vietnam reports 9,682 domestic COVID-19 infections over 24 hrs

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded 9,706 coronavirus cases from 5pm on Friday to 5 pm on Saturday, the Health Ministry said in its coronavirus update.

Of the new infections, 24 cases were imported and 9,682 cases were domestic infections in 34 cities and provinces.

Ho Chi Minh City remained the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot with 4,046 cases. Binh Duong province reported 3,629 cases.

516,449 patients have been discharged from hospital.

The past 24 hours saw the death toll drop considerably to 180 compared to 203 cases of the previous day, with HCM City and Binh Duong reporting 123 and 34 deaths, respectively.

The COVID-19 death toll in Vietnam now stands at 18,400, making up 2.5% of the infections and 0.4% higher than the global average death rate (2.1%). 

More than 37.6 million vaccine doses have been administered nationwide, with 7.55 million people getting full jabs.
