Vietnam reports 95 new local COVID-19 cases Sunday morning

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded 96 new COVID-19 cases, including 95 local infections and one imported case who has been sent to quarantine in Quang Nam province, from 6p.m Saturday to 6 a.m Sunday, according to the Health Ministry.

Among the locally-transmitted cases, 34 were in Bac Ninh province, 32 in Bac Giang, 25 in Ho Chi Minh City, 2 in Lang Son, and one case in each Phu Tho and Hanoi. Of them, 73 were detected in quarantine or blocked areas.

By Sunday noon, Vietnam has 8,704 local infections and 1,633 imported ones. The number of cases since the fourth wave of the pandemic began on April 27 was 7,134.  As many as 3,827 patients were recovered and the death toll reached 58. 

According to the worldometers.info, at 1 a.m Sunday the world has recorded 176.3 million COVID-19 cases, including 3.8 million deaths. The US remains the most affected country with 9,400 new cases and 305 deaths over the last 24 hours, raising the total infections to 34 million people and 615,000 deaths. India and Brazil are two biggest epicenters after the US.
