(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang has reiterated Vietnam’s stance on the East Sea . At an online press conference on Thursday, Hang answered reporters’ question on Vietnam’s response to China’s activities and US naval ships in the East Sea.

She said, 'Vietnam pursues a consistent stance that countries need to abide by international law, particularly the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and respect sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of coastal countries. All activities at sea need to comply with the 1982 UNCLOS and other related rules and practices and contribute practically to maintaining peace, stability, security, and safety in the East Sea. Vietnam’s consistent stance is that the East Sea needs to be a region of peace, stability, cooperation, and development.'
