Vietnam records 8,377 new local infections of COVID-19 on Tuesday

(VOVWORLD) - The Health Ministry confirmed 4,814 more domestic cases of COVID-19  in 38 cities and provinces Tuesday evening, raising the day’s tally to 8,377.

Ho Chi Minh city recorded 2,173 of the latest cases, followed by its neighboring provinces of Binh Duong (1,087), Long An (320), and Dong Nai (217).

The remaining cases were detected in Can Tho city (89), Tay Ninh (122), Dong Thap (110), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (81), Ben Tre (36), Tra Vinh (33), Hau Giang (16), Kien Giang (13), Binh Phuoc (5), Bac Lieu (3), Ca Mau (1), Khanh Hoa (189), Phu Yen (40), Gia Lai (39), Ninh Thuan (29), Quang Ngai (23), Dak Lak (18), Quang Nam (12), Thua Thien-Hue (9), Nghe An (7), Dak Nong (8), Kon Tum (4), Ha Tinh (3), Quang Binh (3), Quang Tri (3), Thanh Hoa (2), Lao Cai (8), Ninh Binh (7), Nghe An (7), Vinh Phuc (2), Bac Giang (2), Hung Yen (1), Hai Duong (1), Dien Bien (1), and Hanoi (97).

1,570 of the cases recorded on Tuesday were detected in the community.

Another 190 COVID-19 fatalities were confirmed on Tuesday in 10 localities, including 166 in HCM city.

Vietnam has so far reported more than 170,000 cases with more than 48,000 recoveries and over 2,000 deaths.  

HCM city is the epicenter of the ongoing wave of coronavirus with more than 102,000 cases.
