Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the committee, told the online conference: “The steering committee has mapped out scenarios when there are 20,000 to 100,000 Covid-19 cases.”

“No one can be certainly sure about the future but I’m confident that as long as we insist on social distancing, the number of coronavirus carriers is unlikely to surpass 10,000,” he said.

The Ministry of National Defense reported that 66,000 people entering Vietnam by air have been put into quarantine drills. The 14,000 people currently placed in 14-day quarantine will be released next week.

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of new Covid-19 infections have dropped substantially and more and more patients have recovered. The three hotspots in Vietnam; Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, Buddha Bar in Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Thuan province, have been under control.
